The rump steak – also known as sirloin or hip steak – is the leanest of all steaks and the most affordable option for unlimited steak enjoyment. It is cut from the rear, tapered part of the sirloin, specifically from the rump (also called the "flower" or "rose") at the back of the beef, which is why it is also known by the more descriptive names "Rosenspitz" or "Tafelspitz" in German. With its outer layer of fat and even, fine marbling, the meat is wonderfully juicy and a true delicacy. – But be careful, things get a little complicated now: While in England, "sirloin steak" refers to the boneless cut from the sirloin, in the USA, the term "sirloin steak" refers to meat from the rump. If you opt for a rump steak from Irish cattle, you can enjoy one of the finest cuts available. Because the tender, juicy bite and the deep dark red color of this high-quality product from Kreutzers are simply unbeatable.
Kreutzers VG – Pre-frozen for best quality!
For some of our products, you'll find "VG" after the name. This means that when ordering your product, you can choose the pre-frozen option (please don't be confused by the best-before date on delivery; this only applies to chilled goods).
For the sake of sustainability, and to ensure nothing goes to waste, we flash-freeze all items that we cannot sell fresh in time. This is done well before the best-before date at a storage temperature below 2°C, thus preserving the high quality of the product.
Pre-frozen does not mean that you will receive a lower quality product, but simply that you should consume this product 2-3 days after receiving it, as the cold chain of -18°C will then have been exceeded.
