Cattle have been raised in Ireland for 5000 years, and that's no coincidence! The mild Gulf Stream climate, which ensures evergreen pastures, and the low population density provide excellent conditions for cattle farming!
The mild climate allows Ireland's lush meadows to flourish: for more than nine months of the year, the land is lush and green. This is also precisely the time when Irish cattle live in herds of about 15–20 animals on the extensive pastures, grazing primarily on grass. This is not only more economical for farmers than keeping the animals mostly indoors on concentrated feed, but the diet, with almost 90% grass content, along with ample exercise, also has a positive effect on the meat quality. And that's exactly why we at Kreutzers.eu also offer Irish beef!
Approximately 7.5 million cattle live on the Emerald Isle. The majority of these animals are Hereford and Black Angus breeds. Angus beef is particularly prized for its tenderness; these cattle are also very robust and therefore well-suited to long grazing seasons. This extended grazing on fresh grass and herbs is also the secret to the rich, red meat with its tender fibers and unique aroma!
