The Duroc pig originated in the USA through the crossbreeding of old European breeds with African and Iberian pigs. Uniform breed standards have been established since 1885, and the Duroc is known as one of the most exquisite pig breeds in the world. Its meat is prized by connoisseurs for its tender and juicy texture, which is due to its high percentage of intramuscular fat.
